With the high altitude, sometimes it's hard to catch your breath. This is the Tibetan grassland. If you climb up the hill you will see the wonderful surroundings. Cattle, yak, sheep, horse and birds flying in the blue sky. On the upper right corner is the Gansu Normal University for Nationalities. This school is an inter-cultural school. Students from the Qinghai - Tibetan Plateau meet here to study. On the foot of the hill are the restaurants where you can relax and order your food while listening to authentic Tibetan music. Yak meat is the best delicacy you may want to try. You can also enjoy the freshly made yoghurt. The green scenery you see here last only for two months. June and July are the best time to visit this place.

Introducing Hezuo, Gannan, Gansu China
Welcome to Hezuo, Gannan,China, the capital of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in southern Gansu province in Western China. It is home to the Hezuo Monastery and its Milarepa Tower, the Langshangmaio Temple, and a mosque. With an elevation of nearly 3,000 metres (twice the elevation of Baguio City, Philippines) (9,800 ft), Hezuo has an alpine subarctic climate (Köppen Dwc), with long, very cold, dry winters, and short, mild summers. The monthly daily mean temperature in January, the coldest month, is −9.9 °C (14.2 °F), while the same figure for July, the warmest month, is 12.8 °C (55.0 °F); the year averages out at 2.4 °C (36.3 °F). Most of the annual precipitation is delivered from May to September.
Swines and other animals like cows and horses including sheeps are free to roam around the city. The most interesting thing is that, they know how to get back home in the afternoon.
Buddhist Nuns walking along the City square. Everyday, you will see Nuns and Monks walking and roaming along the streets of Hezuo. You can also see the Tibetans with their native costumes and accessories mostly in groups. |
